Let us help you update and upgrade your house with the hottest trend in home design. This is an in-demand feature of new home architectural plans. Many people think a home isn’t perfect unless it has a front, side or rear porch that can be used, not simply traversed. You can have the newest home feature even though your home isn’t the newest. Dream it, and we will design and build it!

What is the difference between covered porches and lanais? Lanai is the Hawaiian word for patio, and has come to be used as the name for a balcony, too. We can show you outstanding designs for a lanai to accentuate your home. In many cases, lanai designs trail down from the rear or side of a home. Imagine gentle ceiling fans picking up when nature’s breezes die down. Go all the way, with tropical floral furnishings and accents. If you have sliding glass doors into your home, you may find a lanai exactly what you want. Louvered or French doors also work well. This is the place for a tall julep and a jacaranda tree.

What is the difference between covered porches and verandas? The veranda, of course, has its roots right here in our beloved South. This is a porch that most often spans from one end of a house to the other. It can even extend around the corner to encompass the side and front. It gives a country, or plantation feel to a home. Some homeowners have chosen the side of a garage or carriage house as the location. It’s a great place for barbecuing while protected from the rain and out of the scorching sun. The veranda style can completely transform a conventional frame home into an elegant, historic replica.

There are many other advantages of covered porches:
  • You have an extra outside room
  • It is a finished room – with lighting and fans built in
  • Your outdoor furniture is protected, so that you can do some “exterior decorating”
  • The shade and shelter can be used in three seasons
  • Relax while watching the kids
  • Covered porches give them a place to play when it is raining
  • You can play cards, eat meals, or simply stop and smell the flowering Dogwoods
