Rooms & Gazebos

American Deck & Sunroom has a reputation for innovative designs and functional engineering. Our latest rooms illustrate this clearly. Let’s first define some terms.
  • LANAI (or PORCH) – A covered roof with open walls that protects you from the sun and rain. Furniture is protected from direct rain and the deck is protected from the aging effects of direct sunlight. Even though walls, with no screens or glass, afford little protection from flying insects, a ceiling fan or two is often enough to keep the little intruders way.
  • SCREENED ROOMS - Any covered roof, like a Lanai or porch, that has screened walls to keep flying insects out and bug free living in. Ceiling fans are still recommended to keep the space cool on warm still days.
  • 3-SEASON SUNROOMS - Same room but with a single panes of operating glass windows to protect from blowing spring & summer rains and winter’s chilling breezes and snow. And while the space can be heated in the chilly winter months, air conditioning is not recommended. The single panes of glass will get condensation on the exterior during hot humid months of summer. Access into the house, from a 3-season room is still provided through the exterior grade rear door on the house.
  • 4-SEASON SUNROOMS - Same as a 3-season room, except double glazed insulated windows are used providing an outdoor living space that can be heated and air conditioned for year ‘round use. The access into the house can now be provided through an open wall into the existing home. If separation is preferred, it can now be accomplished with interior grade glass french doors.

NOW HERE COMES THE FIT......

If you’re not sure if you want a screened room or not, try on the Lanai first and see how it fits. Adding screens later is easy and relatively inexpensive and yet you may decide the Lanai is everything you needed your new room to be.

If you choose a screen room and decide later that a sunroom would be a better fit, you’re screened room is pre-engineered to accept 3 or 4 season glass as a future stage with no penalty costs for redesign.

Even though a 3-season room is a glass room that can be heated but not air conditioned, it does have one advantage over a 4-season room. The 3-season glass can be easily and simply removed for good weather months, thus converting your sunroom back into an open screened area all Summer long. Now that’s what they mean by having your cake and eating it too!

THE END RESULT is unrivaled design flexibility that lets you taylor your new space to meet your needs both now and in the future. Imagine enjoying the sights sounds and smells of a rainy day, without getting wet. Never again will you have to cancel a family gathering or squeeze the whole gang inside the house because of bad weather. Never more will you have to pull cushions inside before a storm or apologize for wet cushions.

Can you imagine what it would be like to see a cardinal tucked on the branch of an evergreen while softly floating snow flakes are showering down all around you and at the same time you remain warm and cozy in your new sunroom never really sure if you are actually inside or out. Bringing the outdoors inside, is what we do.

REMEMBER THE DESIGN CRITERIA!

All of our rooms when completed are designed to look as though they’ve always been there. You don’t have to settle for an aluminum patio room!
